Welcome to Vermont Academy at Mount Snow located in beautiful West Dover, Vermont - Home of Mount Snow Resort

Vermont Academy at Mount Snow is a mission driven school offering a unique opportunity for student-athletes to cultivate their passion for on-snow sports while maintaining a consistent college preparatory academic program. Nothing is more noble or important than educating and coaching children and young adults, and the approach we take at VA at Mount Snow is meaningful, professional, comprehensive, and life-changing.

As a school community we are dedicated to the pursuit of passion for snowsport balanced with rigorous education. We focus on the individual, cultivating the qualities, skills, and competencies necessary to be successful both in college and in life, enabling one to contribute and demonstrate leadership in our ever-changing world.

Our school’s core values of kindness, honesty, and excellence are a focal point of the VA at Mount Snow experience and build meaningful and trusting relationships. Living, training, and competing in a mountain environment is like no other experience, developing an awareness and appreciation of all the truly unique qualities of winter and our school community have to offer.

On snow, Vermont Academy at Mount Snow student-athletes benefit from world-class, individualized coaching and exceptional training venues. At Mount Snow, our Alpine team enjoys varied and challenging terrain that meets the needs for each racer’s development. At Carinthia Parks, our freeskiers and snowboarders train daily at the best park in the East. The winning combination of master coaches and unparalleled training facilities makes VA at Mount Snow one of the premiere winter snowsport academies in the country. We also received USSS club certification in 2021, aligning our snowsports program with the best practices industry-wide.

Off snow, our student-athletes’ academic futures are enhanced. We educate each student in their home school’s curriculum, in a way that isn’t just student centered; it’s student led. Our unique brand of conversational education allows our students to work through their academics and also take deep dives into the areas of their work that most interest them; beyond their classmates back home. At the end of the winter, they are up to speed with their schoolwork and have experienced a rich intellectual journey only possible through our personalized and conversational academic model.

As reflected in our Mission Statement, “We instill in our students the vigor and self esteem to take risks and the insight to build on their challenges as effectively as their successes.” We invite you to explore our website, then come visit Vermont Academy at Mount Snow to see us in action.

All the best,

Peter Stokloza

Director of Vermont Academy at Mount Snow

Mission Statement:

Vermont Academy at Mount Snow fosters an environment in which young people develop a joy for learning, and respect for themselves and others, in academia, sports, and in personal and community relationships. The VA at Mount Snow community enthusiastically instills in our students the vigor and self-esteem to take risks and the insight to build on their challenges as effectively as their successes.

Vision:

Our vision is to be the leading winter-term snowsports academy in the United States.

Life after VA at Mount Snow…

Our student-athletes typically continue skiing or riding in college, for D1 or D2 schools in the case of Alpine, or as part of clubs, recreationally. Some of our alumni transition to full year sports academies in the Northeast to complete high school and others opt to stay a part of the VA at Mount Snow community and ‘graduate’ with us. Many of our Freeski and Snowboard athletes head out west to Utah or Colorado to continue competing professionally and seek placement on the US Ski Team and others go on to make a name for themselves as featured athletes in edits and/or photo shoots.

Recent Colleges alumni have attended:

  • Babson College
