The Director of Vermont Academy at Mount Snow, Peter Stokloza, hails from New Hampshire and brings a wealth of experience in winter sports academies and school administration as a former snow-sport academy athlete, coach, teacher and lead administrator, and a parent of three.

According to Peter, “I believe in educating each individual student to the full extent of their goals – including their interests, capabilities, strengths, commitment and current academic levels.” He goes on to say that “by creating a strong learning environment, and building, maintaining and being actively involved in what goals we will instill, goals that include growth, curiosity, trust, creativity and academic rigor, students and staff will develop all the academic and life attributes needed to be successful. The culture of our school, its beliefs, successes and strategies, its college acceptances and placements will propel us forward every school year, actively translating our beliefs and cultural norms into practice each day. We build confidence and character in a learning-rich environment.”

Peter’s experiences include leading the BBTS Snowsports Educational Foundation and Waterville Valley Academy as their CEO and Head of School for 14 years. He piloted their year-round high school program and NEASC accreditation process. As a division one ski racer and academy athlete, Peter has always been part of the competitive snowsports landscape. While during his four year tenure with the US Ski and Snowboard association, he’s worked closely with many snowsports academies, athletes and leaders throughout the US, creating a national network of colleagues and connections.

Prior to becoming the Director, Peter was the Head of School of Mount Snow Academy from 2019-2023. During the 18-19 season, Peter was the acting Alpine Program Director for MSA, working with many Alpine athletes and families. During this time he also formed strong working relationships and networks with the Mount Snow Training Center and Mt Snow Ski Area, key partners to MSA’s long term success. Peter has an MBA, is a level 500 alpine coach and his leadership style and experiences, education and certifications are extremely well suited for Mount Snow Academy.
